Samsun University Biomedical Engineering and Software Engineering Master’s Programs Opened

The application of Samsun University to open the Graduate Education Institute Biomedical Engineering and Software Engineering Master’s programs with thesis was approved by the Council of Higher Education. Underlining that Samsun University has gained significant momentum in a short time, Samsun University Rector Prof. Dr. Mahmut Aydın said, “We are continuing our efforts to open our graduate programs with the aim of developing our university and our city. While our university has completed its institutional formation, it has also gained the qualifications to provide postgraduate education. Developments in this context are a source of pride and happiness for us.”

Biomedical Engineering Master’s Program

Rector Aydın, who gave information about the Biomedical Engineering Master’s program; “The pandemic that we have experienced as a human family in the last period has once again made the importance of medical devices felt. For this reason, the opening of a biomedical engineering master’s program with thesis is important in terms of training our experts who will develop new generation medical devices. With the Biomedical Engineering Master’s Program, which was opened within the scope of the Graduate Education Institute of Samsun University, it is primarily aimed to provide a graduate education that will enable the candidates who have successfully completed their undergraduate education in different departments of basic sciences, health sciences and engineering at the universities of Samsun and surrounding cities to specialize. With this master’s program with thesis, it is aimed to contribute to the development and spread of biomedical engineering departments in our country and in the world, by conducting advanced experimental research on the solution of current problems in the field of health for our Samsun, Black Sea region and especially our country. The graduate program that has been opened is the first when the provinces of the Central and Eastern Black Sea Region and the universities in these provinces are taken into account.”

Software Engineering Master’s Program

Continuing his speech by giving details about the Software Engineering Master’s program, Rector Aydın said, “The rapidly developing information technologies both contribute to the social transformation of countries and create an important competitive field with its impact on the industry. As Samsun University, we see Software Engineering as a very important branch of science in this respect. Recently, it is seen that our country has made breakthroughs in technology, such as the domestic defense industry, domestic automobiles, and unmanned aerial vehicles, which have high technology and attract the attention of the world. Software Engineering is one of the essential and inseparable components of these fields that require high technology. For this reason, we opened the undergraduate program of the Software Engineering department in 2019 in order to contribute to the training of the qualified workforce that our country needs in the sector. Now, we are happy to open the Software Engineering master’s program with thesis.”
